"FORESTIER
DENDROLOGICAL PARK"
The
research activities and plant density measurements were conducted at
the Forestier Dendrological Park, situated in Râmnicu Vâlcea, at
Forestry College - in the west area of the town, on the right bank of
the Olt River, altitude 240-260 m).
A dendrological park or arboretum is an area planted with
plants, trees and shrubs of different species, in order to study the
conditions and steps of their development. A dendrological park
is the result of
natural spread
of tree species, but also of the cultivation by man,
of native species and
exotic species.
The
dendrological park from College
of Forestry is arranged on
an area of 1.5
ha. It contains
over 150 species of
plants, trees and
ornamental shrubs. Students who study
forestry domain come in this park to recognize species of plants and
trees - appearance, leaves,
bark, flowers and fructification.
It is
provided with walkways,
benches, chairs, observation
towers, flowers of
different species. Each fall and
spring, the dendrological park
provides cuttings and slips
for Râmnicu Vâlcea
Forestry Department and
other parks.
